Hola Ma40.
Eliza's Story
19 de mayo ·
A Letter to Eliza. Before the news was released about Eliza being treated, we again personally thanked on email the pioneering families and foundations (surely not all of them) who have fought so hard to help fund this very research for over 20 years, all the while loving their children as Sanfilippo inevitably progressed.
One family, the Siedman's, who run Ben's Dream the Sanfilippo Research Foundation (
http://www.bensdream.org/), responded with a letter directly to Eliza, and we wanted to share, with permission. Their son Ben passed away just before his 18th birthday. Eliza's treatment is in honor of Ben and all Sanfilippo children who have passed and those who might not receive a treatment in time, and their families. It is this kind of selfless love that makes us all fight harder. Please read the letter to Eliza below. Our tears. <3 <3 <3

Dear Eliza,
You never had the chance to meet Benjamin, or he you, but we think you would have been friends. Not because you share something called Sanfilippo Syndrome, but because you both inspired so many to think about you, to reach out to you, to do something for you. Because of your smile, that twinkle in your eye, your laughter, your zest for life. Your love.
We think he left something behind for you and we know he is so very happy for it.
We wish you only the best and hope beyond hope that what Ben left behind gives you the chance to meet someone like him. Tomorrow, next week, next year, decades from now.
Today you are our Benjamin.
With all of our love.
Ben’s Mom & Dad
